Being A Member Of The Kenya Y.M.C.A
YMCA is a membership organization, whose membership is open to all regardless of the age, religious affiliation, sex or social status. Though its basis is Christian, non-Christians can be members and participate in all activities without any discrimination. One is recognized as a member once he/she fulfills the obligation of paying the annual fees or one time payment for life members. CATEGORIES OF MEMBERS:
Life full member: - This is one who has gone through a full membership orientation training that comprises the history of the YMCA, the constitution, election by laws, membership, programmes and mandate as a member among other information and paid up the one off life membership fees of Kshs. 10,000.00.
Life member: - One who has paid up the one off life membership fees of Kshs. 10,000.00 without going through the orientation training.
Full member: One who has gone through the above mentioned full membership orientation training and paid the annual fees that vary from one branch to the other depending on the status as being urban, semi urban or rural. For example Nairobi Central Branch charges Kshs. 1,200.00 annually.
Associate member: - one who has paid up his/her annual membership fees but has not undergone the full membership orientation training.
Youth member: - one who has paid their annual membership fees of Kshs. 300.00 despite the branch in which they belong. They could be trained or untrained as full members but are under the ages of 30 years.
SOME BENEFITS OF BEING A YMCA MEMBER

Participation in all YMCA programmes and activities locally, nationally and internationally when selected, all of which develop the physical, spiritual and intellectual well being of the member.

Payment of special membership rates in some of the services offered in Kenya YMCA like swimming, aerobics etc.

Recognition of the membership in some of the YMCAs abroad and therefore accessing special rates of various services or participation in their activities.

Serving in the various standing committees at branch level or national level and sometimes at the world level.

The advantage of belonging to a worldwide family of about 124 different YMCAs across the world and in all the continents.

Opportunities to represent the organization at local, national or international level as maybe deemed fit.
